This brooch is a one of two limited edition pieces handmade in sterling silver with a smoky patina and dendritic agate. The piece has been made using the laborious technique of repousse to work textures and patterns in to the silver.
Inspired by Gillam-Hull’s previous artworks exploring historical jewellery this brooch continues to use traditional and recognisable jewellery forms with contemporary finishes to give a sense of age and antiquity. These brooches with their seemingly faded patina and marks on the silver that reference a more complex design are mere ghosts of past antiques.
